Concert Crush Backstory
There's nothing like a concert: ahh, the spectacle of live music and the experience of seeing and hearing songs you love as they are brought to life.
It’s no secret that I’m smitten with concerts, they are one of the, if not THE, most favorite adventures in my arsenal. This obsession happened slowly over the course of the last decade or so. And I do mean obsession. In fact, many of my non-concert-obsessed friends seem very confused, sometimes even irritated, that I’m talking about yet another concert.
My genre of choice is country (although I do love many different types of music), and that’s what you’ll find me talking about here at the Best Life Studio. It all started when my now husband, AB, wanted to take me to a concert. He rattled off something about Kenny Chesney at Ford Field in Detroit and how he was going to get seats that were “really super close” to the stage. It was going to be our first official weekend trip together and I was excited to spend time with him, but I was just meh about the concert….that is, until I got there. You see, those “really super close” seats were actually sandbar tickets (read: standing room right in front of the stage). Now THAT was exciting.
And yes, Kenny did top off the night with an amazing performance (that kicked off my love for the No Shoes Nation), but the six hour experience also included sets from Luke Bryan, LeAnn Rimes, Gary Allan, and Keith Urban. We leaned on the stage, slapped their hands, caught guitar picks, sang off key, met the coolest peeps ever, and slow danced as Kenny sang two feet away from us. The next day we rehashed every moment of the experience—my face hurt from smiling and my abs were sore from laughing. I remember thinking that was one of my best times ever. I was ready to do it again!
We have attended countless concerts since then and every single time we are giddy from the time we buy the tickets, to researching the bands and learning the lyrics, through the encore performance. Concerts are my “thing”. The excitement and living-in-the-moment-ness just does my heart good.
